Design and materials

We design clothes to last more than one season – you’ll find that you bring them out year after year and wear them in a different way and in different combinations. Our collections reflect fashion trends to a larger extent and the color range of our styles follows these trends, always striving to use the highest possible share of responsible fabrics. All essientials are made with responsible fibers compared to conventional fibers. By offering durable essentials, we believe that we minimize the consumption of the individual consumer and hence the environmental footprint.

Material choices are an important factor when it comes to the impact we leave on the environment. We primarily use responsible raw materials and by that we can reduce the environmental impact and make a difference. Responsible fibers have lower CO2 emission and lower water consumption compared to conventional fibers. Fibers we use:

TENCEL™ Lyocell

TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers are extracted from responsibly grown wood using a unique closed-loop system that recovers and reuses the solvents used, minimizing the environmental impact of production. TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers have efficient moisture management and feel gentle to the skin. TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers are biodegradable under soil, freshwater, and marine conditions, thus they can fully revert to nature. Furthermore, Lyocell fibers are carbon neutral, which means that through their use carbon emissions are reduced. These fibers enhance breathability and color fastness and have a luxurious shine. The smooth fiber surface absorbs and releases moisture efficiently, therefore, supporting the body’s natural thermal regulation, which gives a natural long-lasting comfort.

LENZING™ ECOVERO™

LENZING™ ECOVERO™ is a responsible viscose fiber. The fibers are derived from sustainable wood and pulp from certified and controlled sources. The production method of ECOVERO™ viscose fibers has a substantially smaller environmental footprint, compared with generic viscose. The production creates 50% lower water impact and up to 50% lower CO2 emissions to air. The fibers are biodegradable under industrial, home, soil, and marine conditions, thus they can fully revert to nature. Buying clothes made from ECOVERO™ fibers gives you confidence that your fashion choices are environmentally responsible and have a lower environmental impact than styles made from conventional fibers. ECOVERO™ fabric has a very soft hand feel and a luxurious appearance. Furthermore, it’s a very lightweight and breathable material and with good resistance against wrinkling.

TENCEL™ Modal fibers

TENCEL™ Modal fibers are extracted from naturally grown beech wood. This fiber is biodegradable and compostable under industrial, home, soil, and marine conditions, thus they can fully revert back to nature. Furthermore, TENCEL™ Modal fibers are carbon neutral which leads to less carbon emitted.

Recycled polyester and nylon

Recycled polyester and nylon are made from pre or post consumers waste, mostly plastic from plastic bottles, or broken fishing nets. Waste is melted and spun into nylon or polyester threads which are used for weaving or knitting. The Production of recycled nylon and polyester uses less oil, less CO2, and energy compared to conventional fibers. Furthermore, the production reduces plastic waste in incinerators and landfills.

Commitment:
In 2025, 90% of the garments in Soft Rebels’ collections will be either Fully Certified Responsible or Responsible Garments.

2022 status:
Today, 81% of Soft Rebels’ collections are already produced as Responsible Garments, but we aim towards even more traceability from raw material to finished garment, which will be achieved by securing higher certifications on a greater number of garments.
